Come to think of it, if you perform effective persuasive negotiation skills, then in return you’ll negotiate effectively for your employer. That’s one asset that employers are looking.

· Please don’t forget that your value as an employee is way too essential than a figure on an excel spreadsheet. In reality, this is true despite of all the complaints that “this is the only adjustment or raise that we can do”. Please bear in mind that employers seek valued employees, they are not seeking for cheap bargains.

The common norm that should not be practice is that “I might have a better opportunity of getting the job title if I don’t battle or ask for much money – because I won’t be too costly as much as other applicants. Do not focus on the wrong angle, instead, pay attention to the value that you will impart as an employee, not how much you will cost. This is a tried and tested formula that if you do these, chances of getting the job and getting high value of your salary. With this regard you will be able to earn extra on it.

· During the acquisition of your employment, before you accept any offers in terms of benefits, you have to negotiate you salary first above anything else. This is because once you engage in signing benefits, your boss will have the leverage to lower your salary and you cannot do anything because he will just tell you that the other forms of increase are inculcated in the benefits. Remember to first get an agreement on what would be your exact salary before anything else. Then, benefits and special considerations may follow.

Before anything else, try to discuss about your worth and value as an employee and the food that you can bring on the table. You should make your employer believe that you are worth it for the company, not a spare employee on the shelf. Make your employer realized your value as a worker, not your value per work.

· Do not accept any offer right away, no matter how profitable it is, on the spot. What you can do is to express your continued interest in the position and your insights and overviews on whether you see yourself paving the way to success in this company. Remember to ask 24 hours to accept the said offer. This is good in both parties because the employer will also have the time to review the offer.
